The Chevrolet Cruze was fully redesigned for the 2017 model year. We did a full review on the sedan with the 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine that was available from launch (Tested Here). Chevrolet later expanded the range which now includes a practical 5-door hatchback as well as an optional 1.6L turbo diesel engine. The hatchback is the obvious choice for anyone looking to maximize space and practicality. It is also the better looking choice out of the two, even though styling is largely subjective. The choice between the gas and diesel engine largely comes down to budget and real-world use. The diesel has far better highway fuel economy than the gas model, which makes it a good option for those who do regular long-distance highway commutes. It does cost quite a bit more, however, and for most, the gas engine will get the job done just fine. Either way, it is nice to the option, which is becoming increasingly rare in this day and age. For a full comparison between the two, check out this video review by The Straight Pipes.
