The Volvo V90 is the most eye-catching and interesting wagon to come from the Swedish brand since the wild V60 Polestar. This is a brand that knows its wagons. Volvos and wagons go together like peanut butter and jam. That’s not enough, however, to save wagons from the endangered species list. Consumers want crossovers and SUVs. Even so, it’s nice to see that Volvo can still build a proper wagon when they really try.
In addition to the stylish exterior, the V90 stands out for its upscale interior, modern tablet-like touchscreen interface, and spirited performance thanks to an available Polestar optimization tune and the sporty R-Design treatment. It all adds up to a total package that can easily holds its against the Mercedes E-Class wagon, Audi A4 Allroad, and Jaguar XF Sportbrake (not available in Canada). The pricing is ambitious and that twin-charged 4-cylinder engine sounds like it would be a nightmare to service out of warranty, but there’s no denying the appeal of the V90.
