VIDEO REVIEW: 2018 Ford F-250 Platinum Super Duty

There was a time when pickup trucks were basic workhorse’s for rural types who just needed a vehicle for work purposes. Since then, trucks have evolved into all-purpose vehicles used for everything from work commutes to weekend shopping mall runs. Most of them are massive in size and many are quite luxurious and feature rich as well. None, however, are quite as overly massive and feature rich as the 2018 Ford F-250 Platinum Super Duty.

In addition to being absolutely gargantuan in every dimension, the F-250 is powered by an engine with enough power to move a small village. The 6.7L turbo diesel V8 produces 440 horsepower and a barely believable 925 lb-ft of torque, allowing for a tow rating of 18,000 pounds. I’m not sure how many actual human beings need to tow 18,000 pounds, but for those who do, this is the truck for you. Trucks of this type don’t get government ratings for fuel economy, however, the F-250 seems to be about as fuel efficient as a regular loaded-up F-150, which is pretty decent.

The F-250 can be packed with all kinds of innovative technology and nice features that were once reserved for proper luxury vehicles. The Platinum models includes features such as a 360 degree camera with tow assist, power retracting side mirrors, a power tailgate, a massive panoramic sunroof, and leather seats that are heated both front and rear, with cooling and massage settings for the front seats. That’s right, massage seats in a pickup truck. How much does all this cost? Here in Canada, just shy of six figures. That’s right, six figures for a pickup truck. Make of that what you will.
