VIDEO REVIEW: Tesla Model S P100D

The Tesla Model S is easily one of the most recognizable electric cars on the market today. What’s interesting is that one of the memorable talking points about it is not the looks or the driving range, but the insane rate of acceleration from a stop. Every Model S is a properly fast car, but the one that grabs the headlines is the P100D. With the batteries primed, the drive setting let to Ludicrous Mode, and the Easter Egg hyperspace mode engaged, the Model S P100D can accelerate from 0-100km/hr in as little as 2.4 seconds. That’s true insanity for any car, never mind a big, heavy, four-door sedan. Having tested just about every supercar on the market, Chris Harris knows a thing or two about fast cars. For his first road test of a Model S, he decided to bring along the ultimate analog internal combustion car from recent times, the Porsche 911 R, and throw the two into a drag race. How will over 100 years of fossil fuel know-how manage against brand-new electric car tech? Watch the Top Gear video to find out:
